Casting:

As you know, casting is not just about finding the right actors for the roles, but also about  their bankability so you can get funding for your film. There are several effective ways of dealing with this:

First and foremost is the quality of the script. If it is great, you will get
name actors to participate. Actors are like everybody else. They want to
be associated with quality.
A great script will open many doors for you.

1.  Low Budget Film

If you are making a low budget film, we can introduce you to a casting director who is willing to work under such constraints and provide you with access to a pool of talent. Obviously, you are not going to get
major stars. But there is a way to cast interestingly with names that are
both recognizable and bankable for your budgetary range.

2.  Medium Budget Film

If you are making a medium budget film, we can put you together with a casting director who will help you go after what are known as “B” list actors. These are well known actors who add cache to your project but are not major stars. A good casting director will also advise you about up-and-comers who don’t cost an arm and a leg (either they have been cast in some big upcoming film or they have cache in another medium such as television or music) which will enhance the theatrical, homevideo and foreign possibilities of your film.

3.  Big Budget Film.

If you are making a big budget film, you will need to attach stars,      commonly referred to as “A” list actors. And the only way to do that is      to have access to their representatives. We have longstanding      relationships with many of their agents and managers and can advise      you on how best to proceed. We can also help you negotiate with their      representatives to get the best deal.

Caveat: Casting is often a catch 22 situation. A financier or distributor
won’t fund a picture unless you have a commitment from your leading
actors. You won’t get a commitment from your leading actors without
making a “pay or play” offer. A “pay or play” offer is a commit-ment to pay them whether the movie gets made or not. And of course you can’t make such a commitment without financing being in place!

There are several ways around this. We will walk you through the process: everything from getting letters of interest from actors to persuading a financier or distributor to sign off on a pre-approved list of names.

If your production financing is not in place, we will steer you towards producing entities and distributors who have their own funds and will be able to make direct offers to the  necessary actors without first having to raise the money.
